From London to New York and Singapore, the global cocktail list features the best bars the world has to offer!

Cocktail aficionados, it’s that time of the year again. The World’s 50 Best Bars list, one of the greatest accolades for drinking spots, has been announced for the year 2024. The prestigious list, first announced in 2009 and curated by the media company William Reed has gained tremendous popularity world-wide. In the ever-changing world of hospitality, this list defines and ranks some of the world’s most outstanding places to drink. The World’s 50 Best Bars list is not just a rundown of trendy drinking spots, it’s a global beacon for cocktail culture. Considered as one of the most prestigious awards on the planet, this list highlights the world’s best mixologists and watering holes. The list is updated each year at an awards ceremony, which took place in Madrid this year. There were 16 new entries to the 2024 list, spanning from Danico in Paris, France to La Sala de Laura, Bogota, Colombia. So, without further ado, here is the 2024 World’s Best Bar List. Each of the bars in run down offers drinkers with high-quality beverages and a timeless feel that makes a classic bar unforgettable.

The latest World’s 50 Best Bars list, several from North America, is the global balance of bars. Every continent except Africa and Antarctica had bars on the list. London and New York City tied for the most awarded cities with four bars each on the list, and the U.K. and U.S. both finished with five bars each, also a tie for first. Mexico continued its rapid rise in the cocktail world by finishing tied with Italy with four bars in the top 50. There were 16 newcomers on the list.

Mexico City’s Handshake Speakeasy was named the best bar in the world for 2024. Following Mexico’s speakeasy, Bar Leone in Hong was ranked second in the global list. The same bar was named the best bar in Asia for 2024 earlier. Meanwhile, Sips in Barcelona, which was ranked first last year, has been placed third this year.

Additionally, special awards were given to six bars which ranked highest in their continents. Bar Leone in Hong Kong was named best bar in Asia, Mimi Kakushi in Dubai was best bar in the Middle East and Africa, while best bar in Australasia was Caretaker’s Cottage in Melbourne and Tres Monos, Buenos Aires, Argentina was the best bar in South America also Europe’s best bar recognition went to Sips in Barcelona.

World’s Best Bar In 2024: Handshake Speakeasy

The two-storied secretive establishment, Handshake Speakeasy, is tucked away in the Colonia neighbourhood. This celebrated bar has also been listed as North America’s Best Bar in 2024. Deeply inspired by the Prohibition era, the bars ground floor sports black and gold aesthetic and Gatsby vibes. At first glance, the drinks list is minimalist, but given that head bartender Eric Van Beek uses advanced culinary techniques in prep, each drink is more complex than meets the eye, often taking 48 hours to craft from start to finish and usually boasting unexpected textures. There’s an on-site laboratory with lab manager Yiyi Aparicio at the helm hidden at the heart of the bar where the team experiments daily.
